Four arrested on cannabis charges

The State Line Area Narcotics Team (SLANT), in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, seized cannabis and weapons after agents conducted search warrants in Rockford and Machesney Park.
Friday, March 11, SLANT agents, DEA task force officers and Boone County detectives executed search warrants on homes in the 1000 block of 21st Avenue and the 700 block of 22nd Avenue in Rockford, as well as a home in the 7000 block of Rogers Street in Machesney Park.
Seized as a result of the searches were 134 cannabis plants, 1,370 grams of processed cannabis, nine guns, scales and all the necessary equipment used in an indoor cannabis grow operation.
Daniel F. Burkhamer, 50, 7000 block of Rogers Street, Machesney Park, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful manufacture of cannabis sativa plants.
Debra K. Hood, 47, 1000 block of 21st Avenue, Rockford, was arrested and charged with unlawful manufacture of cannabis sativa plants and possession of cannabis.
James M. Prebula, 28, and Nicholle K. Schoeneck, 29, both of the 700 block of 22nd Avenue, Rockford, were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful manufacture of cannabis sativa plants.
These charges are only an accusation and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
SLANT is composed of officers from the Freeport, Loves Park, Rockford, and Monroe, Wis., police departments, the Stephenson County and Green County, Wis., sheriff’s departments and the Illinois State Police.
