RAAC has honored Exceptional Student Winston Wernsing Cuevas (Guilford High School) and Star Educator Rebecca Pelley (Guilford High School) as the 2011 Mayor’s Arts Awards recipients.
Winston Wernsing Cuevas won second-place honors in the 2011 Rock Valley College Juried High School Art Show and won “Best of Show” at the Rockford Art Museum’s Young Artist Show (High School Division), where his work is on display through April 3. He has recently been accepted into the Rhode Island School of Art and Design.
Pelley frequently receives letters, calls and messages from past students who tell her she was “that teacher, their favorite teacher, the one” who most changed and inspired them during and beyond high school art classes.
