Tickets ($10 in advance, $12 at the door) can be purchased at Emmanuel Lutheran Church 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Call (815) 963-4815. The performance is sponsored by Four Winds for Spiritual Ecology.
Jencks is noted for his unique merging of musical beauty, social consciousness and spiritual exploration. He has the passion of a Gospel singer, the knowledge of a classical vocalist, and the soul of an Irish Tenor.
From venues like Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, to coffeehouses, festivals, spiritual communities and schools, Jencks has spent the last nine years touring full-time. Jencks applies his conservatory training to a contemporary genre, and offers the listener the best of both worlds.
Drawing on his Irish heritage (dual U.S./Irish citizen), Jencks uses his lush and lyrical voices to enchant, heal and inspire. Jencks has won numerous songwriting awards and is also highly regarded as a song interpreter. His latest release, Links In A Chain, highlights this aspect of his work.
Harris is a dynamic and superbly talented traditional folk performer, whose captivating stage presence and unique harmonies has earned the respect and love of audiences throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe for more than 30 years. Harris combines a strong folk and gospel legacy with a solid background in classical, rock, jazz and pop music. Creative curiosity, years of road and stage experience, and interactions with performers such as Pete Seeger, Ysaye Barnwell, Jay Leno, Tom Paxton, Harry Belafonte and others, has led him to produce music that entertains and inspires.
