When antiquarian bookseller Peter Fallon follows the clues he hopes will lead him to recover a lost Shakespeare play, Love’s Labors Won, written in the bard’s own hand, he himself becomes the target of both underworld thugs and unscrupulous academics. Through the course of the novel, the author unveils what might have happened to the manuscript as it passed from hand-to-hand over the course of time.
In this “bibliomystery,” Martin follows the Wedge family, pledged to protect the manuscript, while tracing the compelling evolution of Harvard University and weaving it with the history of the Puritans in America.
Traveling through America’s past 350 years, from the Salem Witch Trials to the radical ’60s, the author spins a fascinating tale of both mystery and history.
The book is available for purchase at Katie’s Cup, or bring your own copy to the discussion.
