One Green Thing: Some late resolutions for 2011

Whether you were “green” before the color was fashionable or whether you’re just ready to find the “shade” that works best for you, here’s information about doing just “one green thing.”
Although we’re already a few months into the year, it’s never too late for some resolutions. I will try for more positive changes this year! I resolve to:
• Remember to use reusable bags. Actually, I resolve to remember to take the bags into the stores with me. We have a bunch of them, mostly because when I forget them in the car I just buy more bags. This year, I will try not to buy any additional bags. Now, if I can just stop the store baggers from adding in miscellaneous plastic bags during the bagging process. Oh, and I need to remember them for all shopping, not merely the grocery store, like the drug store and greeting card store.
• I will keep a beverage cup in the car. I hope this will stop me from purchasing bottles of water when traveling, although I am not as positive of success on this one. We do not use bottled water at home, and I do not use it at work, so travel time is the last area to conquer. Many places will sell ice and water from their beverage dispenser, but I wonder if they will be amenable to it in a cup I bring with me. Guess we will see. If they will, it will reduce the accumulation of water bottles.
• Get the bag of dead CFL bulbs in the garage to a return location. And while I’m there, spend additional time trying to unravel which bulbs we need to be buying in the first place. We have made all the mistakes. We put them in the overheads in the garage (they do not like cold spaces, so they did not last long). We have used them in areas where we turn lights on and off often, (they last longer if left on at least 15 minutes).
Well, that ought to keep me busy!
