I agree with Ms. McClelland, her strategy makes sense. But another idea is that maybe we should look at why schools failed in the first place. I got a decent education in a public school. Then things changed. Our schools were taken over by a group of self-described education experts and then things went to hell.

“Stand on Children” is advocating blatant “union-busting” in the guise of “education reform!” The legislation they propose is the same Republican Governor John Kasich rammed through in Ohio effectively ending collective bargaining. Their corporate agenda is to effectively silence teachers’ collective voice so there is no opposition to their top-down social engineering. Reform, imposed from above. In this case, from a bunch of Portland,Oregon hedge-fund managers!

Excellent teachers need support from parents the first teachers. Students need to be held accountable for their actions. Of course, teacher tenure is attacked, but look what happens even with tenure. Teachers are punished for having opinions. Teachers and administrators are fired not because of work quality, but because they have spoken out.
