Website aims to keep Bob O’Brien at airport
Staff Report
A website has been created with the hope of encouraging Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) Executive Director Bob O’Brien to stay at the airport.
The site, http://keepbob.blogspot.com, was created less than a day after The Rock River Times first reported O’Brien, along with Airport Authority Board Chairman Brian Boyer, resigned during a closed session board of commissioners meeting. Read about the resignations here.
The “Keep Bob O’Brien” site allows visitors to leave comments in support of O’Brien and provides links to RFD administration contact information.
The site’s creator, former Winnebago County Board member Paul Gorski, is encouraging residents to contact airport commissioners to ask them to work out their differences with O’Brien.
Questions about the website may be directed to Gorski at paulgorski@mac.com.

Bob O’brien will be sorely missed. His business instinct and passion for promoting the Rockford Airport has been instrumental in the growth of the Airport over that last 8 years. I think Mr. Puri needs to pack up his ego and take somewhere he’ll do less damage. He is obviously out classed.
Who are these people trying to fool? I have been in Rockford since 1985. Never have we seen such enthusiasm about our airport than in Bob O’Brien’s tenure! Bob O’Brien is the Chicago Rockford International Airport. It has been his vision and outreach to our community that birthed our airport! Bob O’Brien is Salt of the Earth with his creative fundraising and intuitive collobration with this community! BAD MOVE!!!!!
We got rid of the wrong guy again….can we never get it right. Bob was the light of this city’s dream of a great airport. Bob’s accomplishments make a long list starting with runways , tech stuff to take care of any airplane now flying to land safely in any kind of weather…to say nothing about the hundreds of flights coming and leaving Rockford….and don’t forget the Guy was responsible for paying off bond debt relieving we citizens of millions of dollars of long term debt
I say recall Puri and Rubin and get some folks that know what their doing!
