A group of local residents is planning a rally to sway Bob O’Brien to return to his post as executive director of the Chicago Rockford International Airport.
The rally is slated for 5:30 p.m., Monday (April 4), before the City Council meeting.
The group, headed by Joyce Ball and Paul Gorski, will hail Mayor Larry Morrissey (I) to ask airport commissioners to work out differences with O’Brien.
The rally was inspired by Gorski’s blog: http://keepbob.blogspot.com.
“I started the blog, but Joyce Ball and other ‘Bob’ supporters have called for more,” Gorski said. “We are asking Mayor Morrissey to intercede (to) see if he can help keep the winning team of Bob O’Brien and the Airport Board of Commissioners together.”
O’Brien resigned as executive director after a reportedly heated Airport Authority board meeting Tuesday. Board Chairman Brian Boyer also resigned, saying his five years on the board “are over.”

We predict mr. O’brien will be interviewing @Panama City Airport on monday. Good luck if that is where he is headed!! Bob you deserve the Fla. AD job. Hope you have applied like rumors say? Best of luck -do what is BEST for your family.
Good luck Bob,you deserve better than the treatment you received from this board, you will be missed, best wishes
My guess is that morrisey has already intrerceded and that why o’brien was canned. Don’t count on any Rockford press to dig very deep.
