Rosecrance Foundation Benefit April 11 at Giovanni’s
Staff Report
The 2011 Rosecrance Foundation Benefit turns the “Spotlight on Recovery” at 6:30 p.m., Monday, April 11, at Giovanni’s. This will be an evening of inspiration and exhilarating entertainment presented by former lead cast members of the Tony Award-winning musical Jersey Boys.
“Under the Streetlamp” is a quartet of accomplished vocalists, actors and dancers with impressive stage and screen credits. Their musical program features the best of the Golden Age of Doo-Wop, including the perfect harmonies that distinguished Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and other well-known groups of the 1950s and 1960s. Vocal ensembles such as the Drifters, Dion and the Belmonts and the Crew Cuts produced some of the biggest hits of that era. The music has endured and continues to delight audiences.
The annual Benefit is The Rosecrance Foundation’s premier fund-raiser. All proceeds go to support The Kinley Charity Care Fund, which provides financial support for youth, adults and families seeking treatment for substance abuse.
Since its inception in 1984, The Kinley Fund has provided more than $4 million to help families. The fund serves people who have no insurance or resources to pay for treatment.
“The generosity of people who attend the Benefit changes and saves lives, it’s as simple as that,” said John C. Griffin, Rosecrance Foundation chair and CEO of Kelley Williamson Co. ‘While we’ll have great food and entertainment as usual, the highlight of the evening is hearing stories of recovery from Rosecrance alumni.”
In addition, a Rosecrance volunteer will receive the Castle Award, which recognizes stellar contributions, at the Benefit. This year’s recipient has not been announced.
Every year, Rosecrance brings in a top entertainer or ensemble to perform at the event, which draws about 800 people and often sells out. This year’s production has reportedly been sold out as well.
