As the Rockford Board of Education prepares to vote on Superintendent Dr. LaVonne M. Sheffield’s resignation, a local group is planning to sway her to remain at her post.
To support the cause, the group is holding the “Rally for Fairness in Our Schools,” Monday (April 11) at Booker T. Washington Center, 524 Kent St. The public event starts at 6 p.m.
Admission is free.
Sheffield announced last week her plans to leave District 205 at the end of the month. According to reports, Sheffield’s severance package includes approximately $105,000, three months worth of health care benefits and unused sick and vacation days.
The Tuesday, April 12 Board of Education meeting will be held again at Ellis Arts Academy, 222 S. Central Ave.

Admission is free? Who would actually pay to attend this?
Rally for Fairness in Our Schools? Are you kidding? Has one of the participants at this meeting set foot in the school buildings? Are any of them aware of the behavioral issues the schools are dealing with? Fairness? What about fairness for the students are trying to get an education?
