Houston’s Hen House celebrates fifth year in business
People in Our Times
Houston’s Hen House, antiques, collectible and upscale resale shop in Conover Square Mall, Oregon, Ill., is celebrating its fifth year in business.
In an era of scaling back, Houston’s Hen House attributes its success to being able to adapt to changing times and relying on America’s heritage of bartering.
What started out as a “mom and pop” shop in 2006 with only 2,200 square feet is now Ogle County’s largest antique store with more than 18,000 square feet, with visitors coming from as far away as Australia, England, Ireland and Japan.
