Teen dies after shooting, murder warrant issued

A teen shot outside Patriots Gateway Community Center Sunday afternoon (April 17) has died.
Marcell Egan, 16, was shot a approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday. He was taken to Rockford Memorial Hospital where died Sunday night from wounds to his upper torso.
According to published reports, Egan was involved in an argument with the suspect and others inside the center. The scuffle later moved outside the building where several shots were fired.
Egan was shot multiple times in the chest and was found lying on S. Fifth Street when police arrived.
Meantime, police are searching for 17-year-old suspect Shawnee Clanton and an arrest warrant has been issued.
Police said Clanton is wanted on the charge of first-degree murder.
Several neighbors reported hearing shots Sunday afternoon near the community center and police are interviewing potential witnesses.
