Timber Lake plans events to celebrate 50th anniversary

MOUNT CARROLL, Ill.—Timber Lake Resort in Mount Carroll, Ill., will be hosting a Fish Bowl Casino night to kick off the 2011 50th anniversary season of the Timber Lake Playhouse Saturday April 23. The event will be at the Country Inn of Timber Lake at the corner of Timber Lake and Black Oak Roads. The evening event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m.
At a Fish Bowl Casino, guests can play either blackjack, Texas hold’em, roulette or craps. Guests will be given casino money to play the games and earn drawing tickets for a chance to win big prizes.
‘Prizes include large-screen TVs; six cabins for a weekend of fun with friends; a chainsaw carving of a custom bear; and a trip for two to a play at Drury Lane in Oak Brook, including hotel. Guests who do not want to gamble can use the funny money they are given with their entry to exchange for drawing tickets.
Arrive early and enjoy Shaw’s beef sandwiches with your favorite drinks. Fifty years of TLP history will be reviewed along with a preview of the upcoming season, the resort’s 2011 entertainment series and Timber Lake Village events including the Lighted Boat Parade, Miller’s petting Zoo and Carroll County’s largest flea market.

Murder mystery April 30
There will be a murder at the Timber Lake Playhouse Saturday, April 30, sometime between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. Anyone with information about the planned murder should call either the playhouse (815-244-2035) or the resort (815-244-1600).
Go to the playhouse website, www.timberlakeplayhouse.org, and reserve a ticket to witness the murder.
Timber Lake Resort will be hosting a Spaghetti and Meatball dinner at the Country Inn across from the Playhouse from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. You can also order those dinner tickets through the playhouse. Dinner tickets are $10.
The murder mystery will benefit the 50th Anniversary season of the Timber Lake Playhouse. There will only be 150 people allowed to pay $20 to witness the murder. After the murder is solved, all guests will be invited back to the Inn to enjoy coffee and pastries from the Main Street Commons Café. This will be a fun evening where you will have an opportunity to question the suspects, examine the evidence, and if you wish, payoff someone for inside information. They will be talking about this tragedy all season.
Elvis vs. Beatles May 21
Timber Lake Resort will host a season premiere event that is sure to be a sellout! Elvis and the Beatles will do battle to benefit the 50th anniversary season of Timber Lake Playhouse Saturday, May 21. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the show will start at 7:30 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m. You will witness Elvis spray paint a picture of the King, which will be auctioned off during the intermission to the highest bidder.
