To the Editor: Words for thought
Many of our politicians, once they get into position, they change their disposition. All the constituents can suffer the consequences because a bunch of manipulators want you to believe that they’re on the right path.
In the meantime, the constituents are shredded like old documents. As long as their oily pocketbooks are well greased up, nothing seems to matter.
Anything within reason is not so bad because nothing is really perfect, but anything within reason should be negotiated fairly for everyone and be accepted. Many of these lawmakers don’t even believe in God, like it says on our coins and paper money. With high oil prices and all phases in the cost of living escalating, when is this situation going to stop?
I’m inclined to think some of our Fox newscasters and politicians like to put everyone in a paranoid state of mind because of some of their radical tactics. When are we ever going to find peace?
Certain individuals seem to have their heads in the wrong part of their anatomy or graduated from the wrong academy. They must have forgotten all the lives lost in a falsified war with several thousand wounded and the enormous amount of taxpayer money down the drain in Iraq. Again, the top-notch corporations get richer, and the middle class have to pay and suffer the consequences!

You need to read your last paragraph and apply it to yourself. You love to bash those of us who prefer Fox news over your lame-stream socialist owned and operated media.

I agree with the writer that we are in a war that is costing all of us—except the rich who are profiting from it. Kind of like the VietNam war, we have NO business being there!! The only reason we are there is because of OIL. We could care less about the country or its people. If we REALLY cared about other countries’ people and NOT oil and profits, we would be helping Darfur, the Ivory Coast, etc. Because these places do not have oil, we allow the genocide to continue. So WHO, John, is really the stupid one here?

I prefer Fox News. Yet I am constantly bombarded by those in Rockford’s liberal community, and the lame-stream media at large that I am either stupid, insensitive, racist, or, as you put it, a hater.
Is it “hate” that I mistrust the main-stream media? I can recite dozens of examples where the major news organizations have, for years, mislead their viewers to a false point of view. Most recently, the media gave Barack Obama a “free-pass” on his Chicago connections. No way would John McCain have been let off the hook if he had a “Tony Rezko” in his closet.
In my considered opinion, the lame-stream media duped the majority of Americans into voting for Obama.
Yet you imply that I’m stupid. I think you’re either naive or so brain-washed by this left-wing garbage that you can’t see the truth.
The Democrats love to talk about a ‘falsified’ war. But they have short memories that the Democrats were in charge of the House and Senate when they voted to go to war in Iraq. The intelligence community worldwide thought they had evidence that Sadam had WMD’s or components of WMD’s in Iraq. He did use chemical weapons in the past on his own people. It was only after the war started that we did not find out what we thought Sadam had. But the problem now was that we had to stay in country until Iraq could survive as a democratic country. Yes it sucks, but if we would have withdrawn earlier, then the people of Iraq would have been worse off.
I disagree with President Obama’s policies for the most part. I disagree with his spending spree, his plan to ‘raise taxes on the rich’ which I am not rich, or anywhere close to the $250,000 level, so it shouldn’t affect me, right? But it does in higher prices, taxes on ’sin’ products, and other things. But people label me as racist because I disagree with the President. But the left also said a few short years ago, that to disagree with the president is ‘patriotic’. Now they claim that it is racist. Their view changes with which party is in office. That makes them petty and liars in my view.
Fox News leans hard right. The mainstream media leans hard left. Fox News says upfront that they are right leaning. The mainstream claims to be unbiased. Neither is totally right, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
For the record, I am considered a Conservative. I am registered as a Republican, but I do not vote Republican all the time. I vote for the person that I feel is best for what I believe in. Most of the time, I am voting for the less of two evils which make me sick, but I still exercise my right to vote. The candidates that I vote for do not always win. I support who wins, but will disagree with them if I think that they are going down the wrong path.
For the record, I disagreed with Bush a lot during the last 2 years of his presidency. He went away from the principles that he claimed to have when I voted for him. Before we went into war with Iraq, I was not feeling right about it. Something didn’t feel right when he started it, but once it started, then I supported it to the end of leaving it as a democratic country. Yes many lives were lost, and my heart goes out to every family that lost a loved one in the war.
I also believe that we need to cut spending, but also know that tax increases for everyone will be a part of the plan to reduce our spending deficit. I do not like the idea of paying more taxes, but understand that we are to a point that it has to be in the conversation. I also think that refunding people more than what they paid in taxes is stupid and silly. If a person has paid $500 in taxes for the year, and gets back $600, my question is why? If they have that many deductions, credits, and other programs, then the refund should NEVER be more than what they paid in.
