Four Rockford businesses cited for sale of tobacco products to minors

Four Rockford businesses were cited for sale of tobacco products to minors after an April 22 compliance check.

Stop and Shop, 2500 Huffman Blvd.; Wilson’s Automotive, 3100 N. Rockton Ave.; Cigarettes and More, 3816 Auburn St.; and Tobacco Express, 864 W. Riverside Blvd., were cited.

The Rockford Police Department Community Services Unit and the Winnebago County Health Department conducted the city-wide compliance checks of more than 125 businesses. During the checks, official funds from the Winnebago County Health Department and minors employed by the Health Department were utilized to make controlled purchases of cigarettes.
