Horses: Carter Lanes, Trackside Rockford announce plans for Derby Days

Ladies, get out your big hats, and gentlemen, place your bets—Derby Days are this weekend, May 6-7, on the Miracle Mile. Don Carter Lanes and Trackside Rockford are planning a schedule of events for everyone in Rockford to enjoy the upcoming races. Attendees can check out the newly-renovated Cue Room upstairs in Don Carter Lanes, which now has more TVs and is enclosed for better race viewing and listening. Seating in this room is by reservation only for Saturday’s race.

It all takes place at 4007 E. State St., Rockford. The schedule of events includes: Friday, May 6 —Kentucky Oaks: OTB opens at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 7 —Kentucky Derby: OTB opens at 8:30 a.m. Don Carter Lanes will be grilling outside and have a full roster of bands through the afternoon and evening.

The community is welcome to join Don Carter Lanes this weekend for the 137th running of the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby. Both are Grade 1 stakes races for 3-year-old Thoroughbreds run annually in Louisville, Ky., at Churchill Downs since 1875.
