Local figure skaters earn national medals

Two local figure skaters earned medals at the 2011 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships April 12-16 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jeri Wysong, Rockford Park District Learn to Skate program instructor, and her partner Michael Schlautman, of Chicago, earned a third-place medal in the Pre-Gold Dance event. They are coached by Rockford Park District Coach Gene Heffron.
Brad Whitlock, Rockford Skating Club member, and his partner Susan Schwaegler, of the Quad Cities, earned a second-place medal in the Pre-Bronze Dance event. They are coached by Rockford Park District Coach Kathy Torrence.
The championships featured 400 skaters from all over the United States competing in more than 90 open events and eight championship events.
