Park PLAYer teen applicants sought
Staff Report
Rockford Area Lutheran Ministries is offering job opportunities for area teens to participate as paid staff members in the Park PLAYers, a nonviolent conflict resolution playground program beginning its 18th season this summer.
Lutheran Ministries is looking for youth ages 14 and 15 who are committed to nonviolence, open to learning and embracing new skills, willing to function in a team setting, have leadership potential, and are comfortable working with children.
Teens must obtain a worker’s permit if hired. In order to be considered for a staff position, all teens must participate in an interview at Liberty Park, Morgan Street and Central Avenue, on either Saturday, May 7 or Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to noon. Rain site is Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1829 N. Rockton Ave., directly across from West Middle School.
The Park PLAYers program starts June 14 and continues each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon through July 28 at Liberty Park.
Lutheran Ministries, working in cooperation with community childcare agencies and the Rockford Park District, has provided conflict management playground programming since 1994.
For more information about the Park PLAYers or for an application, contact the Lutheran Ministries office at (815) 962-4279 or RALMmail@aaol.com.
