Online Staff Report
The Rockford Police Department is investigating whether a former Public School District 205 employee had an alleged role in what has been reported as a series of inappropriate text messages.
According to published reports by WTVO Channel 17/FOX 39, Monday, May 9, an unknown number of messages, believed to be of a sexual nature, were allegedly sent by the former official to a male District 205 student.
As of this report, it was unknown whether the student involved in the alleged string of messages is a minor.
The Rock River Times received an unconfirmed report of the alleged incident last month and sent a request to District 205 officials for mobile phone records under the Freedom of Information Act April 21.
April 28, Freedom of Information Act Officer Chris Euhus replied to the request, stating that text message records are not maintained in district archives.
However, it was later confirmed that a police investigation of the matter is ongoing.

mark bonne’s phone records were FOIA’d for the record
WOW. What a crock. Fire good honest hardworking teachers, but keep bums like this employeed.
This is totally bogus. From what I hear, the Police Department investigation didn’t last more than an hour before the cops determined this was a ginned-up complaint with no merit. The messages didn’t even come close to rising to the level of “sexting.” When is the RRTimes going to follow up on this story and acknowledge that no such “sexting” scandal ever existed? Perhaps the people who pertetuated the story were trying to create a diversion for serious transgressions such as Cedric Lewis’ completely bogus budget. Has he yet to come clean that he inflated the cost of athletics to support a partnership with the Park District in the hope that when Sheffield fell, Dimke’s wife would make a triumphant return and keep Lewis in place?
As predicted, there’s nothing to this. Times should be commended for updating its report:
Police: No indication of crime in alleged ‘sexting’ by former District 205 employee

Police have still not found cause to make an arrest in a month-long investigation into allegations that a former Rockford Public School District 205 employee sent inappropriate text messages to a male student.
The case stems from a complaint last month that a District 205 student received inappropriate text messages from the former employee.
No details about the case or the subject of the investigation are known, however, police confirmed the allegations early last month.
As for whether an arrest will be made, detectives are still hesitant to say a crime was committed.
“At this stage, there is no indication that any illegal activity occurred,” Deputy Police Chief Greg Lindmark said Friday, June 17.
The case was first made public in a May 9 WTVO Channel 17/FOX 39 report that alleged “questionable behavior that may involve texting” by the former employee was being looked into by police. The Rock River Times also verified the investigation.
Lindmark said the case remains open, but did not comment on details.
“Right now, nothing has come of it,” Lindmark said.
