Police have still not found cause to make an arrest in a month-long investigation into allegations that a former Rockford Public School District 205 employee sent inappropriate text messages to a male student.

The case stems from a complaint last month that a District 205 student received inappropriate text messages from the former employee.

No details about the case or the subject of the investigation are known, however, police confirmed the allegations early last month.

As for whether an arrest will be made, detectives are still hesitant to say a crime was committed.

“At this stage, there is no indication that any illegal activity occurred,” Deputy Police Chief Greg Lindmark said Friday, June 17.

From what I hear, the Police Department investigation didn’t last more than an hour before the cops determined this was a ginned-up complaint with no merit. The messages didn’t even come close to rising to the level of “sexting.” When is the RRTimes going to follow up on this story and acknowledge that no such “sexting” scandal ever existed? Perhaps the people who pertetuated the story were trying to create a diversion for serious transgressions such as Cedric Lewis’ completely bogus budget. Has he yet to come clean that he inflated the cost of athletics to support a partnership with the Park District in the hope that when Sheffield fell, Dimke’s wife would make a triumphant return and keep Lewis in place?
