Auburn High stages ‘The Wedding Singer’ May 12-15

The Rockford Auburn High School Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) department will stage the area premier of the musical comedy The Wedding Singer May 12-15.
Tickets are $8. The show will be performed in Auburn High’s theater, 5110 Auburn St.
See the fun rip-roaring musical based on the Adam Sandler movie of the same name—with numerous musical numbers, countless explosions of energetic choreography, and a hilarious story about the troubles of love.
It’s the ’80s. Robbie Hart lives in his grandmother’s basement in New Jersey and sings in a wedding band. His dreams of being a singer/songwriter are long gone, replaced now by a burning desire to find the right girl and settle down. When his fiancée leaves him standing at the altar, he becomes a wedding planner’s worst nightmare, taking out his bitterness on stage until his eye—and heart—turn to a new friend, Julia, but she’s engaged to a wealthy Wall Street broker.
The show includes adult language.
Show times are 7:30 p.m., Thursday-Saturday, May 12-14, and 2 p.m., Sunday, May 15. The musical is staged by James L. Crow with vocal direction by Beth Heuer, technical direction by Joselyn Ludtke, choreography by Tam Woodrow and assistant direction by Hannah Rodenbeck.
