Two more Rockford Public School District 205 administrators resigned this week, marking the third official to step down since former Superintendent Dr. LaVonne Sheffield parted ways with the district last month.
According to reports, Tracy Stevenson-Olson, the district’s executive director of curriculum, and Executive Director of Professional Development Caesar Mickens will leave the district at the end of June.
Mickens and Stevenson-Olson follow communications chief Mark Bonne, who resigned last month.
While reasons why Stevenson-Olson and Mickens are leaving have not been announced, Bonne stated he wished to remove himself from the upheaval swirling around Sheffield’s tenure.
Mickens worked with Sheffield in Detroit and Louisiana. Sheffield hired him to be her staff development director when she worked for the Recovery School District in Baton Rouge. He came to Rockford with Sheffield two years ago.
Stevenson-Olson came to District 205 in 2007 as an assistant principal of the Auburn Freshman Campus. She’s also worked in Walworth, Wis., and Beloit, Wis.

This is a start of getting rid of some of the dead wood. These two arrogant people were in way over their heads and caused much havoc in the district. Good bye and good riddance!
Mr. Mickens is a brilliant person, and our school district will miss him.
He is about as brillant as some of the rest of the “friends” that Sheffield brought and should be investigated for his role as an employee of the district and Pearson Publishing at the same time. And curiously, we spent millions during the Sheffield reign of terror on Pearson products. Just a coincidence Eman? I am glad you are sticking up for your friend, but too bad your friend is a corrupt individual who’s best skill seems to be following Sheffield from town to town and leeching off of the communities they plunder!
