Woman found guilty of murder in boy’s morphine overdose

A woman was found guilty of murder Thursday, May 12, for delivering a controlled substance that killed  a teen last year.

Susan Moore, 40, was found guilty of first-degree murder, drug-induced homicide, delivery of a controlled substance to a minor and delivery of a controlled substance.

Moore’s charges stem from an April 3, 2010 incident during which police discovered a 14-year-old boy unconscious at an area residence.

According to a witness, the boy swallowed pills supplied by Moore. He died two days later from what was found to be a morphine overdose. Moore was prescribed morphine for back pain.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 1, at 9 a.m., before 17th Circuit Court Judge Joseph McGraw.

Moore faces 60 years in prison.
