Col. John A.P. Gessner to speak at Memorial Day service

Col. John A.P. Gessner, U.S. Army, Ret., a 1974 West High School graduate, will be the featured speaker at the 11 a.m. Memorial Day observance May 30 in the Memorial Garden at West Middle School, 1900 N. Rockton Ave. The 200 men, former students from Rockford’s West High School and West Middle School who gave their lives for their country and whose names are engraved in this garden will be honored and remembered.

Parking is available in the Custer Avenue lot. The Memorabilia Room will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. Entrance is on the north side of the school.locally by KNIB, the City of Rockford and Winnebago County.
