Haile Selassie I, whose lineage (according to the tradition of the "apostolic" Ethiopian Orthodox Church) stretches back to King Solomon, who was crowned "King of Kings" and "Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah" by the Patriarch of the Egyptian Coptic Church in 1928, never claimed to be the return of Jesus Christ. In fact, he explicitely denied this on many occasions, including a radio interview with the Lutheran World Federation in 1967.
