For the 22nd year, The Literacy Council will combine food, fun and fund-raising at its 100 Men Who Cook event at 7:30 p.m., May 21, at the Indoor Sports Center, 8800 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park. More than 110 amateur chefs will participate and prepare a variety of their creative appetizers, entrées and desserts for attendees to sample.
Last year’s sold-out event drew more than 600 guests. Attendees receive a 100 Men Who Cook cookbook featuring the recipes of all the dishes served at the event. The event includes a silent auction and the drawing for winners of the new Design on Our Dime: Kitchen Makeover raffle.
Tickets for 100 Men Who Cook are $50 each or $500 for a table of 10, and VIP tickets are $65 each or $650 for a VIP table of 10. The VIP reception includes early entrance to the event at 6:30 p.m. and a beer and wine tasting. Tickets can be purchased at The Literacy Council, 982 N. Main St., Rockford, by calling (815) 963-7323 or online at www.theliteracycouncil.org. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Taking the place of the Three Vehicle Raffle, the first Design on Our Dime raffle grand prize includes a full kitchen makeover at a value of more than $18,000. In lieu of the kitchen makeover, the winner can choose to take the $7,500 cash option. Two other winners will be chosen to receive a Saffire Ceramic Grill & Smoker from Benson Stone Company and a 50-inch Samsung Flat Panel HDTV 720p Plasma with 3 HDMI from American TV. Raffle winners need not be present to win.
