Market prepares for opening day
- This year’s vendors announced
Shop Rockford City Market when it returns for a second season Friday, June 3. At least 25 vendors have already been confirmed, with additional vendors still going through the approval process.
After you finish shopping, relax on the terrace with a cool beverage and live music. This year’s market will feature musicians such as Jodi Beach, Acoustic Roots, The Backroads Trio, After 5 Jazz Trio and more regional artists.
Each week, the market will showcase different activities and demonstrations. Watch for cooking demonstrations, planting and flower care, worm composting, kids’ activities and a close-up look at the world of insects. The market will run from 3-7 p.m. every Friday from June 3 through Oct. 21 along Water Street between State and Jefferson streets in downtown Rockford.
Opening day includes:
-Music by: Frank Calvagna and Mike Youngblood—The duo plays a mix of classic and Latin jazz standards, along with their own interpretations of contemporary songs. Calvagna is a well-known jazz guitarist and has won RAMI and Best of Rockford awards both as an individual performer and for his work with the band Opan Jii. Youngblood also is a Best of Rockford winner, and has performed with the bands Grooveasaurus and Mr. Big Stuff.
-Activities: Rockford Park District will present a variety of activities for kids.
