UPDATE: Police investigate Monday morning bank robbery

The Rockford Police Department is investigating a Monday morning (June 6) bank robbery at Northwest Bank, 3106 N. Rockton Ave.
Officials said a man wearing black clothing and armed with a handgun entered the bank and demanded cash from the tellers at approximately 10 a.m.
The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and got into a gray sedan parked on the 3000 block of Ellen Ave. A black female was driving the vehicle, police said.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, approximately 5-feet, 9-inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing a black baseball cap, black shirt, black shorts and black shoes.
Deputy Police Chief Greg Lindmark said the suspect was in the bank before the robbery inquiring about opening an account.
