Head to area parks to cool off

* Park District to active spray pads Wednesday, June 8

Because of Wednesday’s expected heat wave, the Rockford Park District will activate spray pads at 11 a.m. at certain area parks as a way of helping area residents keep cool. The spray pads will remain on until 8 p.m. at the following locations:

Beattie Playground
Black Hawk Park
Brown Park
Churchill Park
S. Henrietta Park
Harmon Park
Keye-Mallquist Park
Liberty Park
Washington Park
Mandeville Park

Residents who wish for spray pads to be activated may call (815) 987-8800 (between Memorial Day and Labor Day) when the heat index is at least 85 degrees.
