Those neighbors who are spending their last dime on that pipe dream are spending their money NOW on lottery tickets which are not bringing ANY jobs to the area OR bringing tourists to the downtown area. If a person is addicted to gambling, they will FIND a way to gamble and because THAT person can't control themselves then ALL of us can't gamble locally----how absurd! Addicts do get cut off--they run out of money, THAT is a consequence of THEIR decision. These new Casinos will cause more problems than they solve. Rockford is NOT Vegas. There are few tourists here to swindle out of their money and then send them home.
