Body of missing man found in Rock River near Byron

The body of a man who went missing in the Rock River Saturday, June 4, has been found, police Sunday, June 12.
After a extensive search for Casey Sheets, 20, police recovered his body yesterday, a week after went overboard of a pontoon boat.
Police say Sheets ended up in the river during an altercation with 27-year-old Kristopher Zaugg. The men were among four people on the boat.
While it’s not clear if Sheets was pushed into the river, Zaugg has been charged with two counts of reckless conduct/causing great bodily harm.
Meantime, the body of Casey Sheets was transported to the Ogle County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy will be scheduled for later this week.
During the investigation, police learned Sheets was convicted of aggravated battery of a public official after he tried to run over a police officer in 2009.
Officials said the altercation on the pontoon boat was unrelated to the 2009 case.
Reckless conduct is a Class 4 felony, punishable by up to 3 years in prison and fines up to $25,000.

Just think….if he would have gotten jail time w/the aggrevated battery of a public official maybe this kid would still be alive. This man NEEDS to be behind bars, he is a danger to society!!
