A male victim was pulled from Pierce Lake this afternoon, June 14, Rock Cut State Park spokesman said.
According to reports, divers from several fire and rescue departments were called to Rock Cut at about 3:30 p.m. to search for a 17-year-old boy who fell out of a canoe.
Spokesmen said early reports specified the boy, who was not wearing a life jacket, was under water for a few minutes. After a rescue team from the Loves Park Fire Department pulled the boy from the lake, it was determined he had been in the water for 30 or 40 minutes.
The teen was taken to OSF St. Anthony Hospital. His condition has not been released.
The victim was among four teens in the canoe, which capsized about 100 yards from shore in 10 to 12 feet of water. The three others were able to swim back to shore and were not injured, police said.
