Navistar Supplier Symposium connects Rockford region suppliers to opportunity
Staff Report
Navistar, Inc., a global vehicle and engine assembler headquartered in Illinois, will conduct a Supplier Symposium from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, June 23, at Giovanni’s, 610 N. Bell School Road.
This free event, sponsored by the Rockford Area Economic Development Council, is significant because it will bring together a major Illinois manufacturer and an anticipated 100 regional prospective and current suppliers in both the production and non-production purchasing segments. This “business matchmaking” could result in an economic impact of increased production and revenue for suppliers.
“This is a great opportunity for regional companies to better understand the business opportunities Navistar presents, and the requirements necessary to become part of its supply chain,” Mark Podemksi, RAEDC vice president for Development, stated.
Navistar, a Fortune 250 company based in Lisle, Ill., is comprised of four segments: Truck, Engine, Parts and Financial Services. Navistar has begun moving into its new headquarters in Lisle but believes it is important to have good relationships in all areas in Illinois where Navistar has a strong presence. Navistar seeks to strengthen current relationships with suppliers in the Rockford area and build new relationships as well.
Information will be presented at the symposium regarding Navistar and the requirements to become a supplier. The opening general session will be followed by brief one-on-one meetings with appropriate Navistar professionals. Depending on interest from attendees, Navistar procurement representatives may be available for further discussion in several areas.
