YouthBuild program seeks VISTA/AmeriCorps volunteers

Comprehensive Community Solutions, Inc., (CCS) is seeking one full-time AmeriCorps volunteer and two VISTA volunteers, available immediately.
The AmeriCorps opening is for a teacher aide. The VISTA service will involve a variety of activities including fund-raising, corporate/business partnership development, external communications and marketing, and special project development.
Applicants for AmeriCorps must be at least 17 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, have a valid driver’s license and be a U.S. citizen. Applicants for VISTA must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, have a valid driver’s license and be a U.S. citizen.
All successful candidates will possess skills and abilities that include problem solving, working independently, interpersonal relationship-building, teamwork, strong verbal and written communication, dependability, positive attitude, computer literacy, organization, ability to adapt to change, and ability to handle multiple tasks as assigned.
All three appointments are for one year. AmeriCorps members receive a bi-weekly living allowance of $438.46, an education award of $5,350 upon successful completion of service, and health insurance if not already covered. They may also qualify for a child care allowance. Other benefits include loan deferment, professional training, valuable networking opportunities, working with a dedicated team of AmeriCorps Members and staff, and making a real difference in the community.
VISTA volunteers receive a living allowance in the amount of $891 per month plus benefits, which include insurance and possible child care. In addition, VISTA members receive a $5,350 Educational Award at the end of their 12 months of service.
