LOVES PARK, Ill.—Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful’s (KNIB) Summer Clothing Drive will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 9, at all seven area Hilander Food Stores in Rockford, Roscoe and Cherry Valley.
Lori Gummow, KNIB executive director, said: “Summer is garage sale season, and our Clothing Drive offers an easy way to dispose of leftover clothing, shoes, linens, stuffed animals and other soft goods. Just bag up those items and bring them to the nearest Hilander. Please make sure the bags weigh only 5 to 10 pounds for the safety of our volunteers.”
Area residents are asked to place their clean, usable clothing for men, women and children in plastic bags; no boxes or hangers are accepted. All items collected are redistributed in the condition received and need to be in plastic bags to keep everything clean and dry until it arrives at the final destination for redistribution in the United States or in a Third-World country.
Accessories, such as purses, linens, stuffed toys and soft-sided luggage, are also accepted. Any shoes dropped off need to be tied together.
