Retirement reception for Rockford deputy chief of police July 1

A retirement reception for Rockford Deputy Chief of Police Theo Glover is set for 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, July 1, at the Rockford Police Department, classrooms A & B.

Glover is stepping down after 24 years on the force to take over as chief of Rockford Park District Police.

Glover joined the Rockford Police Department March 9, 1987. He rose through the department attaining the rank of investigator, sergeant, lieutenant and deputy chief. Throughout his career, he was assigned to Patrol, Community Services Unit, General Case Unit and Support Services Bureau.

In a press release, Police Chief Chet Epperson expressed his gratitude to Glover “for his loyal and dedicated years of service to the department and the citizens of our community.”

Rockford Police Department is at 420 W. State St., downtown Rockford.
