Spray pads activated at area parks to help residents cool off

Rockford Park District is activating spray pads at certain area parks as a way of helping area residents beat the heat.

Spray pads will be turned on at noon and remain on until 5 p.m., Friday, July 1, at the following locations: Beattie Playground, Black Hawk Park, Brown Park, Churchill Park, S. Henrietta Park, Harmon Park, Keye-Mallquist Park, Liberty Park, Washington Park and Mandeville Park.

Residents can call (815) 987-8800 (between Memorial Day and Labor Day) to have a spray pad activated when the heat index is at least 85 degrees.
