Charlotte’s Web holds Open House July 8
Snapshotmusic and Charlotte’s Web are delighted to invite you to an Open House from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, July 8, at the Emerson House, 420 N. Main St.
As Charlotte’s Web begins its 40th anniversary season of presenting top-shelf performing artists, its archives as well as its office have found a home: sharing the second floor of the Emerson House with Snapshotmusic. Snapshotmusic is an on-site digital recording services company and is the primary caretaker of the archives, working on digitizing and preserving the vast collection of live concert recordings spanning 39 years while at the same time continuing to record the Web’s current concerts. This archive includes more than 15,000 hours (and growing) of live concert recordings. Join the Web as they settle in to their new home on the Mendelssohn PAC arts campus, where most of the 40th season concert events will be held.
The second floor of the Emerson House as a “home” for the studio, offices and archive tapes will enable the Web to invite interns, volunteers, friends and fans to engage in the process. A private listening room will also be available to offer both research and pleasure/listening/viewing opportunities for students, scholars, professionals, family and fans.
The acoustically and aesthetically beautiful first floor of the Emerson House will serve as the backdrop and launching pad for “Concert Conversations,” a new series of intimate concerts recorded live for broadcast in the spirit of the internationally-acclaimed PBS series, Austin City Limits. Hello, Austin! Your baby sister will be born in Rockford this July!
A Charlotte’s Web anniversary CD/DVD Combo featuring songs from artists performing during the upcoming 40th season and wearing the title “Get Folked at 40″ is also planned. Snapshotmusic will spearhead these two projects from the Emerson House, and you are invited to join them for hors d’oeuvres, drinks, music and memories.
This is a free event. For more information, call (815) 543-7627 or visit www.Snapshotmusic.com.
