Writers’ group speaker to address ‘Effective Book Marketing’ July 9

Staff Report

Amy Lou Jenkins — author, speaker, and educator — will discuss “Effective Book Marketing and Elevator Pitches” at the July 9 meeting of In Print, the regional organization for professional writers.

Jenkins is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the division of continuing studies, where she conducts writing classes at conferences and writing retreats.

In June, Jenkins led a weeklong course at Write By The Lake Writers Retreat in Madison, Wis.

“Since many writers want to engage agents and editors with their nonfiction in proposals, cover letters and queries, these nonfiction sessions could be applicable to writers of all genres,” Jenkins said.

Taking from her weeklong course, Jenkins will share with In Print attendees how to better engage with agents and editors, regardless of genre.

Her presentation will be at the Cherry Valley Library, 755 E. State St., Cherry Valley, at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 9.

Interested writers may join the In Print writers group for $30 per year; this fee includes membership to In Print’s affiliate, the Chicago Writers Association. Guests are welcome to attend two meetings at no cost before joining. Contact Kristin Oakley at kristin.oakley@inprintwriters.com for details.
