ArtsPlace offers ‘To Be Me … Or Not?’ July 21-22

Rockford Area Arts Council’s summer youth apprenticeship program, ArtsPlace, will culminate with an art exhibit and sale and collaborative performance July 21-22 at Rockford College Clark Arts Center.

The program, titled “To Be Me … Or Not?”, will include an art exhibit, dancing, music, theater, poetry and visual arts.

ArtsPlace, which began June 13, is for aspiring artists between 14 and 18 years of age who work under the direction of professional artists to create art to sell and perform for the public.

Proceeds earned from tickets and art sales are divided equally among the youth who successfully complete the program.

Since 1995, more than 800 youth have benefited from ArtsPlace apprenticeships. This summer marks the 17th year of the program.
