Northwest Neighborhood Meeting set for July 26

Meetings for the Northwest Neighborhood will be held from 5:30-7 p.m., Tuesday, July 26 and Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Rockford Health System Auditorium, 2400 N. Rockton Ave. The meetings are for people who live or do business in the area bounded by Riverside Boulevard, Auburn Street, Kilburn Avenue and Huffman Boulevard.

These meetings are a follow-up to a preliminary meeting held June 22, where the City of Rockford Police Department and other agencies reported and responded to questions about changes and problems in the northwest area. Interested parties were then given the opportunity to speak and report on actual issues. Attendees were also given information about how to work cooperatively to improve their neighborhood.

Several residents signed up to work on the formation of a neighborhood group with several area block captains; that meeting will be held later this month. Attendees at the July 26 meeting will hear about the status of this new neighborhood group, as well as hear reports on other actions taken since the initial June meeting.
