‘Icemen Drive’ to be unveiled July 24 in honor of youth hockey team’s 15th straight state title

The Rockford Icemen youth hockey team and Rockford Park District will be honored at a sign dedication at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 24.
An “honorary” street sign will be unveiled, thanks to the City of Loves Park, which means “Auto Park Drive” will also be referred to as “Icemen Drive.”
The “Icemen Drive” street sign will be unveiled at the entrance to Carlson Ice Arena parking lot, 4150 N. Perryville Road, Loves Park.
The “Iceman Drive” street sign is a fitting tribute to memorialize the Icemen’s rare achievement in youth hockey. With a win March 17, the Rockford Icemen marked their 15th consecutive Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois State Championship.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, all alumni from the 15-state championship teams and their families are invited to celebrate. A cookout is set to take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., with an Icemen alumni skate from 3 to 5 p.m.
