U.S. Marshals arrest Miami County, Ind., fugitive in Rockford after short standoff

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service-led task force, including U.S. Marshals, McHenry County Deputies, Dupage County Deputies and Illinois Department of Corrections, along with the Rockford Police Department and Winnebago County arrested 28-year-old Donny Sturgill July 25 off Fairview and State in Rockford.
Sturgill was wanted by the Miami County, Indiana, Sheriff’s Department for escape, failure to appear and violation of a community transition program.
According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice, Sturgill has an extensive violent criminal history and was considered armed and dangerous.
After a short standoff, Sturgill walked out of the residence and surrendered to authorities.
