Could be another day before power is restored to all customers following storm

A strong storm that produced heavy rains and wind gusts of up to 80 mph July 27 left as many as 21,500 area residents without power overnight, and more than 16,000 residents without power as of Thursday morning, July 28.
ComEd reported it may take up to another day before power is restored to all customers. Call (800) Edison-1 to report power outages.
According to local reports, more than 1 inch of rain fell at Chicago-Rockford International Airport, while Freeport was hit with more than 5 inches of rain and the Dubuque-Galena area, in the northwestern part of the state, had more than 10 inches of rain.
Rockford Park District reported Ingersoll Golf Course would be closed July 28 because of a large amount of tree damage. The Park District also reported the following damage as of 10 a.m., July 28:
• Levings Park (1400 S. Johnston Ave.) — Certain roadways are closed to remove debris;
• Black Hawk Park (101 15th Ave.) — Certain roadways are closed to remove debris, currently without power;
• Searls Park (4650 Safford Road) — Certain roadways are closed to remove debris; and
• Sinnissippi Park (1401 N. Second St.) — currently without power.
Earlier this month, a record 868,000 homes and businesses in Illinois lost power when a storm ripped through the state July 11.
