Midway Village profiles historic gardens, landscapes July 30-31

Enjoy the Heritage Gardens and Natural Areas while in full bloom from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, July 30-31, at Midway Village Museum, 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford.

Bring the family and join the museum for this unique event centered on historic gardens and landscapes. Activities will be led by local Illinois Extension Master Gardeners, Midway Village Museum education staff and other area garden and prairie experts.

Four presentations will include “Why Plant Natives?,” “A History of Food Preservation,” “Herb Lore and Legend” and “Attracting Birds to Your Garden.”

Other activities during the two-day event are herbal tea tasting, Victorian crafts and demonstrations from the garden, garden tours and prairie walks, birding tours, Grandma’s Rhubarb Wine, heirloom plant sale and children’s activities.
