Local Foods Dinner Aug. 8 at Social Urban Bar
University of Illinois Extension is continuing its efforts to connect local food producers, restaurants and diners through the third season of the Openfields Local Foods Dinner series. The first dinner was held several weeks ago at Abreo in downtown Rockford.
Monday, Aug. 8, the second dinner in the series will be held at Social Urban Bar and Restaurant, 509 E. State St. in Rockford. The host will be Social chef/owner Paul Sletten. He is well known for his uncompromising attention to detail, incredible creativity and love of the unusual, unique, and rare ingredients. Whether it is a perfectly-crafted sauce or a masterful presentation of a classic, his innovation always delights. Because of the nature of this style of cuisine, the menu will be available at the event and based on the availability of the local ingredients. Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. dinner seating. Guests will be served a five-course meal made from local, seasonal ingredients. Coffee, tea, soda and water are complimentary, and there will be a cash bar.
Cost is $55 per person, and a vegetarian option is available at the same price.
Join in the celebrations of summer … local food, local chefs, and local farmers. The Openfields events showcase the creativity, taste and heritage of our region. Two more dinners will follow featuring Toni’s of Winnebago at Severson Dells and Café Belwah.
Reservations prior to the dinner are required. Call U of I Extension at (815) 9876-4357 or visit http://web.extension.illinois.edu/jsw to reserve your seat or for more information.
