Man found guilty of attempted armed robbery, battery with a firearm in relation to 2008 shooting

Frederick “Ricky” Lambert Jr., 21, was found guilty of attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery with a firearm after a jury trial in front of Judge Gary Pumilia.
April 14, 2008, Rockford Police were dispatched to Arthur and Miriam Avenue regarding a shooting victim. Chaz Bowens was being treated for a gunshot wound to his leg. Bowens informed the officers that as he was walking to the store, two men approached him and one of them had a gun and demanded money. Bowens ran and was shot while fleeing. The two men fled the scene. Bowens was able to identify the suspects as Lambert and Derrick Neville. Neville previously pled guilty and is incarcerated in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Attempted armed robbery is a class 1 felony with a sentencing range of probation or four to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Aggravated battery with a firearm is a class X felony with a sentencing range of six to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Sentencing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Aug. 30, in courtroom 317 with Judge Pumilia.
