Retirement reception for Rockford deputy police chief Aug. 5

A retirement reception for Rockford Deputy Police Chief Greg Lindmark will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 5, in classrooms A and B of the Rockford Police Department.
Lindmark, a 26-year veteran, joined the department Jan. 12, 1981, as a police cadet. He was appointed as a patrol officer March 4, 1985, and rose through the department, attaining the rank of investigator, sergeant, lieutenant and deputy chief.
Throughout his career, Lindmark was assigned to patrol, identification, youth, detective and gang unit. He assumed command of the Special Operations, Patrol Services and Investigative Services Bureau.
