Fire Department responds to house fire on Sandy Hollow, no injuries reported

The Rockford Fire Department was dispatched to 916 Sandy Hollow Road at 12:23 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9, for a house fire.
Upon arrival of the first fire company, it was reported there was smoke and flames coming from a single-story bungalow.
Crews made entry into the burning home and encountered heavy smoke conditions, with the main body of the fire located in the rear portion of the structure.
The home appeared to be vacant, but crews still searched the home for occupants, and none was found.
The fire quickly extinguished, but heavy damage had already occurred to most of the interior. An investigator was called in for cause and origin purposes. Crews remained on the scene for approximately 1-1/2 hours for overhaul of spot fires and site cleanup.
Estimated loss is at $15,000. No injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.
