Man arrested, charged with first-degree murder for Jan. 22 shooting death

Antwan T. Maxey, 26, was arrested Aug. 10 and charged with first-degree murder for the Jan. 22 shooting death of 25-year-old Charles Spivey.

Spivey was shot and killed during a large house party at 2003 Sherman Ave., Rockford. Five others were shot during the incident.

Rockford police detectives conducted a murder investigation and a warrant was obtained for Maxey’s arrest. Winnebago County Sheriff’s police located Maxey on Beach Street in Machesney Park, where he was placed under arrest.

Lamont Cole and Clifford Horton were also arrested and charged with first-degree murder in relation to the Jan. 22 shooting.
